Preamble
Now-a-days Nuclear medicine techniques are being widely used as the best treatment to cure all types of cancer and allied diseases. The Radiation Medicine Center (RMC) of BARC, Mumbai has become the nucleus for the growth of nuclear medicine in the country and carries out a large no. of patient investigations every year. Along with RMC, Tata Memorial Center (TMC), a fully autonomous aided institution of DAE, is the leading center to provide comprehensive treatment for cancer and allied diseases. Also, Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT) supplies the radioisotopes like Intense Cobalt-60 to 225 teletherapy centers throughout the country. Along with radioisotopes, several radiopharmaceuticals have been developed. For the same, different devices like SPECT gamma camera and techniques like Position Emission Tomography (PET) are developed and being widely used. At Indore, Raja Ramanna Center for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) has developed teletherapy machine. With these all, other applications of radioisotopes in health care are continuously being developed. The considerable amount of research in nanotechnology applications for health care has been started at CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENTS (CRTD), SINHGAD INSTITUTES, Solapur. In order to explore this, CRTD has organized a workshop on “NUCLEAR ENERGY AND HEALTH CARE (NEHCA-2017)”,in collaboration with INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, Solapur and BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTER, Mumbai. This event is a part of a Multi Mega Event of “INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT & THEIR COMMERCIALISATION (ITRDC 2017 )”, consisting of a National Conference, Science Exhibition, Talent Search, Exhibition & Trade Show of Renewable Energy Technologies.
This workshop is an opportunity for the Medical practitioners, Biotechnology, Medical College and Medical Physics students to understand the Medical Radiation Exposure and Radiation Oncology Perspective. Participants will get an opportunity to interact with the technology experts and also to visit the exhibition.
