This Cloud Lesson is geared toward Third Grade students and allows them to use some of the technology mentioned on the Tools for Education page. Students will participate in a BeeBot activity to become familiar with describing and identifying different cloud types. Students are then able to become scientists by making cloud observations and recording their data using the Arduino Journal app on the iPads. This targets both a Science standard (associating major cloud types with weather) and a Math standard (drawing a pictograph to represent a data set).Â
This lesson about the exploration of the Lousiana Territory is geared toward Fourth Grade students and allows them to use the Dash Robot to "travel" the path of Lewis and Clark. Students will stop at the important locations labeled and explain their significance. In between events, students will measure the distance the robot traveled, using a key to reference the distance Lewis and Clark traveled. This targets both a Social Studies standard (map the exploration of the Louisiana Territory and describe the events, struggles, and successes of the purchase) and a Math standard (fluently add and subtract within 1,000,000).
