Current phase: making the program. Deanonymized abstracts required until July 30th!
We are committed to making SinFonIJA 19 an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming experience for all participants. We believe that everyone should have equal access to the knowledge and networking opportunities the conference provides.
Venue Accessibility
The conference will take place at Wall-Gebäude (Merangasse 70), which is fully accessible to individuals with reduced mobility. Entrances, circulation areas, and key facilities are equipped with ramps and elevators. Accessible restrooms are clearly signposted on all floors used during the conference. Step-free access is provided to all conference rooms and the break room.
Personal Assistants and Service Animals
Participants who require the support of a personal assistant or companion are welcome to bring them. Personal assistants are granted free admission; please indicate this requirement during registration.
Trained service animals are welcome in all areas of the venue. Please note that the care, supervision, and well-being of the animal remain the sole responsibility of the participant, as the organizers are unable to provide dedicated animal care services.
Please also be aware that while the conference ticket includes public transport within Graz for participants, it may not cover transport for animals; participants are advised to check the applicable fare regulations and purchase additional tickets if required.
Free travel for a personal assistant is legally guaranteed if the participant holds a valid Austrian Disability Passport (Behindertenpass) with the entry “Die Notwendigkeit einer Begleitperson ist gegeben” (necessity of an accompanying person). In such cases, the registered accompanying person (Begleitperson) may travel free of charge on all public transport services (see: https://www.holding-graz.at/de/inklusion-wird-bei-uns-ganz-gross-geschrieben/).
For international participants who do not possess an Austrian disability ID, transport authorities are generally instructed to act with flexibility if appropriate documentation of disability or an equivalent national ID is presented.
Families and Children
We welcome participants attending with children. While children are allowed at the venue, the conference does not provide childcare services. Parents and guardians are fully responsible for supervising their children at all times.
The break room reserved for participants of SinFonIJA 19 will be available throughout the entire duration of the conference and may also be used as a quiet, nursing, or rest space. Please note that the Wall-Gebäude (Merangasse 70) does not have dedicated nursing or breastfeeding rooms, rather basic diaper-changing facilities in the accessible restrooms on-site. If there is additional need, the organizers can arrange a dedicated room for these purposes upon request.
In addition, the University of Graz provides a fully equipped breastfeeding room, nursing room, and playroom located on the ground floor of the Main Library (Hauptbibliothek), approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the Wall-Gebäude. Access requires a keycard; please contact us at sinfonija19@uni-graz.at no later than September 1st 2026 for assistance in obtaining temporary access.
