Pathways Introduction

This website has been designed to provide students, parents and carers with information about Pathways Progression and subject specialisation.

At Sinclair Academy, we are guided by our core values of aspiration, integrity, mercy, and service in all that we do. These values play a key role in shaping the learner pathways available to you as you prepare for the next exciting stage of your education.

The purpose of these pathways is to ensure each of you can make informed choices that reflect your aspirations and talents, setting you on a path to success both in school and beyond. By selecting a pathway that resonates with your interests and goals, you are taking an important first step toward shaping your future. Through this process, you will discover the subjects you enjoy most and develop skills for learning, life, and work—skills that will be essential as you move toward a positive and fulfilling future beyond Sinclair Academy.

In S3, you will complete the Broad General Education (BGE), which has been designed to offer both the breadth and depth of learning necessary for you to thrive now and in the future. The BGE allows for a wide range of subjects and experiences, providing you with the opportunity to explore, specialise, and grow while keeping your options open for the diverse pathways available in S4 and beyond.

Our S3 curriculum has been crafted to maintain this breadth while offering personalisation and choice. This helps ensure that you stay motivated, challenged, and well-prepared for progression into the Senior Phase. We are here to support you every step of the way, and our pathway planning process is supported through our Personal and Social Education (PSE) programme, Key Adult and Deputy Head Teacher conversations, as well as input from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) colleagues. Together, we aim to help you choose subjects that align with your skills, strengths, and ambitions.
