Title : Recent Trends in Deep Learning Research

Abstract : 인공지능 연구에서 딥러닝이 핵심적인 주제가 된 지 수년이 지난 지금, 컴퓨터 공학, 전기공학 등 공학분야 뿐 아니라 의학, 생명과학, 화학, 통계학 분야에서도 딥러닝 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 최근 들어 수학자들도 관련 연구에 관심을 보이기 시작하였으며, 효율적인 알고리즘 설계, 더 높은 성능 도출, 알고리즘의 작동원리 분석등에 수학적 방법론을 적용하려는 시도들이 늘어나고 있다.

이번 세미나에서는 수학을 연구하는 학생과 연구자들을 대상으로, Deep Learning Research에서 관심있는 주제와 연구 대상, 그리고 연구 방법들에 대한 일반적인 내용들을 소개하고, 최신 연구 동향에 대해 살펴봄으로써, 수학이 이러한 연구에 어떻게 기여할 수 있을지에 대해 고민해 볼 수 있는 시간을 가져보려 한다. 특히 주로 이미지 데이터들을 처리하는 알고리즘 및 방법론에 대해 소개하고, 시간이 남으면 위상 수학, 대수기하학의 개념들을 딥러닝 연구에 사용하려는 시도에 대해서도 간략히 소개한다.

제목 : Homological mirror symmetry for invertible curve singularities

초록 : For a weighted homogeneous polynomial and a choice of a diagonal symmetry group, we define a new Fukaya category based on the wrapped Fukaya category of its Milnor fiber together with monodromy information. It is analogous to the variation operator in singularity theory. As an application, we formulate a full version of Berglund-Hübsch homological mirror symmetry. We prove it for the case of two variables by constructing a functor from our new Fukaya category to the matrix factorization category. For ADE singularities, Auslander-Reiten quivers for indecomposable matrix factorizations were known from 80's, and we find the corresponding Lagrangians as well as surgery exact triangles.

Title: Counting sheaves on Calabi-Yau 4-folds.

Abstract: We define a localised Euler class for isotropic sections, and isotropic cones, in SO(N) bundles. We use this to give an algebraic definition of Borisov-Joyce sheaf counting invariants on Calabi-Yau 4-folds. When a torus acts, we prove a localisation result. This talk is based on the joint work with Richard. P. Thomas.

Title: Kaehler-Einstein metrics on smooth Fano symmetric varieties with Picard number one

Abstract: Symmetric varieties are normal equivarient open embeddings of symmetric homogeneous spaces and they are interesting examples of spherical varieties. We prove that all smooth Fano symmetric varieties with Picard number one admit Kaehler-Einstein metrics by using a combinatorial criterion for K-stability of Fano spherical varieties obtained by Delcroix. For this purpose, we present their algebraic moment polytopes and compute the barycenter of each moment polytope with respect to the Duistermaat-Heckman measure. This talk is based on joint work with Jae-Hyouk Lee and Sungmin Yoo.
