A dental prosthesis is a device used to replace missing teeth and restore function, appearance, and oral health. Prostheses can be fixed or removable, and are tailored to each patient’s needs.

🔧 Types of Dental Prostheses

1. 🪥 Fixed Prosthesis

These are non-removable and feel like natural teeth.

• Crowns – Caps placed over damaged or treated teeth (e.g., after root canal)

• Bridges – Replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring to neighboring teeth

• Implant-supported crowns/bridges – Fixed on top of dental implants

2. 😁 Removable Prosthesis

Can be taken out and cleaned by the patient.

• Complete Dentures – Replace all teeth in an arch (upper or lower)

• Partial Dentures – Replace one or more missing teeth and are supported by remaining teeth

• Flexible Dentures – Softer, more comfortable alternative to traditional acrylic ones
