Sina Bari, MD, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who went to Stanford, is a leading innovator in medical devices and information technology. After his father died when he was 8, he learned how to program computers by translating his mother's computer science textbooks into English. By the time he was in high school, he knew a lot about UNIX networking and had made software to simulate biology using early parallel supercomputers.
