About Us
Located in Middle Tn, Simply Bullies focuses on producing and maintaining lines of American Bullies that are bred to the breed standard. Health and Temperament are our first and foremost concerns, as American Bullies are meant to be fantastic, well rounded family companions.
We settled on the kennel name "SimplyBullies" because for our program it is simply about the bullies. We know the American Bully is an amazing breed that can excel at some many things, but sadly the breed is often overlooked due to prejudices, lack of health testing within the breed, and the multitude of backyard breeders; as well as the lack of positive exposure. We hope to help improve and better our breed & program by focusing entirely on the dogs; not popularity, hype, etc. We hope that our dogs, both owned and produced will be great examples showing that the American Bully can be the ultimate companion.
We got into our breed in 2014 , we have researched, learned from mistakes, and built our program slowly over the years. Health and Temperament are the most important factors for us. American Bullies should be the ultimate family companion, and to do so, health and Temperament have to be number 1.
We push to continue to excel and consistently improve each aspect of our program. Health testing each generation to track improvement and pitfalls, Temperament testing ( including Volhard for litters, TT, CGC, and SPOT-ON for adults), conformation and performance sports to prove our dogs abilities. We strive each year for improvement in each area every year.
We started health testing our breeding stock in 2017 with our foundation stud, Ritz, and have continued to test more and more of our dogs each year; we test for genetic diseases, hips, elbows and cardiac at minimum. For more information about our programs health testing and goals, as well as general health information about the breed please visit our health testing info page here.
We have competed within UKC, ABKC, and BRC conformation shows since 2015, and have recently started to dabble in multiple performance sports to further prove our dogs abilities as well as the breeds versatility. These include so far: Rally Obedience, Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing, Precision coursing and dock diving. We strive to attend more events and add more sports each year. You can see show photos here within our gallery here.
Our Puppies have been raised using Puppy Culture protocols since 2018, and recently added in Avidog protocols as well. It is very important to use to prepare our pups as fully as possible for their lives with their new families. We socialize in various situations, as well as desensitize our pups to a host of novel items, animals, textures, sights and sounds. We are always adding and improving our puppy rearing systems to better each generation of young dogs. See more about our puppy rearing process here.
We have strived to find various ways to test and evaluate temperament within our program. These things help us to better understand the dogs in front of us, as well as set goals for the future.
Our Stud GRCH/Dual CH SB Great Balls Of Fire TT was the first recorded American Bully to complete and pass the Temperament Test through the American Temperament Test Society (see more info on this test here ). We continue to test further with past generations and future generations as they come of age to track the temperament within our lines in our adults.
We evaluate puppies temperament through the Volhard Testing and now more recently the APet testing through Avidog. We use these tests to better place our puppies within the proper homes as well as track temperament as a whole over multiple generations .
We have also recently started utilizing the CBARQ assessment at 1 year and again at 2 years to assess more temperament aspects within our program and produced generations.
( Find info about the CBARQ Here)
We are always happy to discuss any of our dogs, health testing, show plans, breedings, litters ( past or present) or about the breed overall.
