DTG printing
Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing is a method where water-based ink is sprayed directly onto the fabric. It’s one of the go-to methods for print-on-demand because it’s perfect for printing one-offs and complex, multi-color artwork. DTG printing uses non-toxic, water-based vegan inks that are safe for both adults and kids. This process is environmentally safe as the machines are energy-efficient and produce zero wastewater, making this a sustainable option for your brand.
DTF printing
Direct-to-film (DTF) printing is a method of printing that is engineered specifically for on-demand production at consistent high quality, offering vibrant, durable prints across a wide range of apparel and fabric products. Unlike DTG, which works best only on natural fibers, DTF printing is versatile and suitable for a wide variety of fabrics, such as: Cotton, Polyester, Fleece, Nylon, Various blends. DTF printing delivers excellent quality, ideal for photos, colorful designs, graphics, and fine art. The ink is pressed onto the fabric rather than soaking in, resulting in vibrant prints. Initially, DTF prints may feel slightly stiff, but they become smoother and more elastic after a few washes, ensuring longevity. They are resistant to cracking and fading, even with heavy use and cold to lukewarm washes.
Which method do I choose?
Choose DTF if you have a design with intricate details, lots of colors, or fine text, and you want it to look sharp and vibrant. DTF is perfect for making your designs stand out with a premium, retail-quality finish. This method will cost a little more for production.
Choose DTG if: You have a photographic design or an image with subtle color gradients, and you want a soft, breathable feel. This is the most used method and still provides a great end product.
