Smart Alarm Clock
Smart Alarm Clock
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 1, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Halifax Developer (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the Android application Smart Alarm Clock (the “App”). The App is an alarm clock that includes stopwatch, world clock, widgets, and customizable alarms.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information. Core alarm, timer, stopwatch, and preference data is processed and stored locally on your device.
This Privacy Policy is designed to align with Google Play Developer Program Policies (including User Data and Data Safety requirements), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
2. Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account or submit personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or payment card details through the App.
Local data processed on your device only
Alarm settings (time, repeat days, label, ringtone, vibration, enabled state)
Stopwatch and timer data
User preferences (12/24-hour format, theme, default alarm settings)
Widget configurations
This data is stored using Room (local database) and DataStore (preferences) and remains on your device. It is not uploaded by us to any server operated by Halifax Developer.
Information collected by third-party services
When you use the App, certain third-party services may automatically collect limited technical and usage information. This may include:
Device identifiers, advertising ID, IP address (approximate location), device model, operating system version, and app version
Crash logs and performance data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
App usage events and interaction data (via Firebase Analytics)
Advertising identifiers and interaction data for ad serving and measurement (via Google AdMob, Google AdX, and Meta/Facebook Audience Network)
Limited non-personal purchase/subscription status information shared by Google Play Billing so we can unlock premium features
We do not receive or store your payment card details, Google account password, or full purchase history.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases where applicable:
Performance of a contract – to provide the core alarm, timer, stopwatch, and widget functionality you request.
Legitimate interests – to maintain app stability (crash reporting), improve the App (analytics), and display relevant advertising.
Consent – where required for advertising identifiers, personalized ads, or certain permissions (you can withdraw consent at any time via device settings).
Legal obligation – when we must respond to lawful requests from authorities.
4. Permissions We Use in Our App and Why
The App requests the following Android permissions. You can manage or revoke most of them at any time in your device Settings → Apps → Smart Alarm Clock → Permissions.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Required on Android 13 and higher to show alarm notifications, timer alerts, stopwatch notifications, and foreground-service notifications so you are informed when an alarm or timer fires.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM and USE_EXACT_ALARM Allow the App to schedule and trigger alarms at the precise time you set. Without these, alarms may be delayed by the system.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE Permit the App to run stopwatch, timer, and alarm-related services in the foreground with a persistent notification, ensuring reliable operation even when the App is not actively open.
VIBRATE Enables the device to vibrate when an alarm or timer finishes, according to your settings.
WAKE_LOCK Allows the App to briefly wake the CPU so alarms can ring even when the screen is off or the device is in a low-power state.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Lets the App detect when the device finishes rebooting so it can automatically restore and reschedule your saved alarms.
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT Enables the full-screen alarm ringing interface to appear over the lock screen or other apps when an alarm is due, so you do not miss it.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS Allows the App to ask for exclusion from aggressive battery optimizations that could delay or prevent alarms from firing on time.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW Permits the App to display the alarm interface over other applications when immediate attention is required.
These permissions are used solely to deliver the core alarm and timing features. They are not used to collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the App to function.
5. Data Storage and Security
Alarm, timer, stopwatch, and preference data is stored locally on your device using Room and DataStore. We do not operate our own servers that receive this data.
Third-party services (Firebase, Google advertising services, Meta) store the limited technical and usage data they collect on their own infrastructure under their respective privacy policies.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data processed. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Third-Party Libraries & SDKs Used in Our App
The App uses the following libraries and SDKs. Local libraries process data only on your device. Cloud-connected SDKs may transmit limited data as described in their privacy policies.
Local / on-device libraries
Hilt (com.google.dagger:hilt-android) – Dependency injection. Manages object creation and lifecycle (ViewModels, Room database, repositories, AlarmManager, NotificationManager, SharedPreferences equivalents). No data leaves the device.
ViewModel (androidx.lifecycle:lifecycle-viewmodel-ktx) – Lifecycle-aware UI state management for alarm lists, timers, and settings. Data stays on device.
Fragment (androidx.fragment:fragment-ktx) – Builds the App’s screens (Alarm List, Stopwatch, Timer, Settings). No network activity.
Room (androidx.room:room-runtime, room-ktx) – Local SQLite database for storing alarms and related settings. All data remains on your device.
DataStore Preferences (androidx.datastore:datastore-preferences) – Stores user preferences (time format, theme, defaults) locally and asynchronously.
Lottie (com.airbnb.android:lottie) – Renders lightweight JSON animations for onboarding, empty states, and loading screens. Animations are packaged with the App; no data is sent externally.
Cloud-connected services
Firebase (Analytics, Firestore, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) Used for: usage analytics, optional cloud data synchronization (if enabled), crash reporting, and push notifications for app updates or announcements. Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdMob / Google AdX Used to display advertisements. May collect advertising identifiers and interaction data. Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy AdMob Policies: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
Meta / Facebook Audience Network Used for advertising. May collect advertising identifiers and ad interaction data. Meta Privacy Policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/
You can learn more about how these services process data by visiting the links above. We encourage you to review their policies.
7. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, Google AdX, and Meta (Facebook) Audience Network. These services may use advertising identifiers, device information, and interaction data to serve and measure ads.
Firebase Analytics is used to understand how the App is used (for example, feature engagement and crash-free sessions) so we can improve reliability and user experience.
You can limit ad personalization and reset your advertising ID in your device settings (Google Settings → Ads, or the equivalent on your device). You may also adjust analytics-related settings where available.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The App itself does not use browser cookies. Third-party advertising and analytics SDKs may use device identifiers, advertising IDs, and similar technologies that function analogously to cookies for measurement and ad delivery. These are governed by the third-party policies linked in Section 6.
9. Detailed Information on the Processing of Your Personal Data
Alarm and preference data: Processed locally on your device for the sole purpose of providing the App’s core functionality. Not transmitted by us.
Technical and usage data (via Firebase): Processed to monitor stability, diagnose crashes, and understand aggregate usage patterns.
Advertising data (via AdMob, AdX, Meta): Processed by the respective advertising partners to deliver, measure, and improve ads.
Purchase/subscription status: Limited non-personal information may be received from Google Play Billing solely to unlock or maintain premium features.
We do not sell personal information.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Local alarm and preference data remains on your device until you delete individual alarms, clear App data, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data associated with it.
Data collected by third-party services is retained according to their own retention policies (see the links in Section 6). You can request deletion of data held by those services by contacting them directly or by using available device controls (for example, resetting advertising ID).
11. Payment Terms and In-App Purchases
The App offers in-app purchases and/or paid subscriptions for premium features.
All payments and subscriptions are handled safely by Google Play Billing. We do not collect, store, or see your payment details such as card information or Google account passwords.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them before the next billing date. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your Google Play account settings. If you cancel, you will continue to enjoy premium features until the current billing period ends.
Purchase Information
Google may share limited, non-personal purchase details with us, such as subscription status or validity, so we can unlock premium features.
Refunds & Cancellations
All refund requests must be made through Google Play, following Google Play’s refund rules.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not share your purchase or subscription information with any third parties, except when required by Google for payment verification.
Policies
All in-app purchases and subscriptions follow the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
12. User Rights Under GDPR
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you have the right to:
Access the personal data we process about you
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase data (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances
Restrict or object to processing

14. “Do Not Track” (CalOPPA)
Some browsers and devices offer a “Do Not Track” signal. The App does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals because there is no consistent industry standard for interpreting them. You can control advertising identifiers and limit ad personalization through your device settings.
15. International Data Transfers
Data processed by Google and Meta services may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. These providers use standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms where required by applicable law. See their privacy policies for details.
16. Protection from Malware and Network Misuse
We design the App to operate within the permissions and security model provided by Android. We do not intentionally distribute malware or engage in network misuse. Users should keep their devices updated and download the App only from the official Google Play Store.
17. Links to Other Websites and Apps
The App or advertisements may contain links to third-party websites or apps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
18. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
19. Compliance with Legal Obligations and Law Enforcement
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (for example, a court order or government demand).
20. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
