This Privacy Policy outlines how Simple Vault (the "App") processes and protects your data. To summarize the privacy in this service:
- Zero-Knowledge Architecture: We do not read, share, sell, or monetize your passwords or private data.
- Local Storage by Default: Your vault data is encrypted and stored locally on your device.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not collect telemetry, usage analytics, or technical user data.
- Google Drive Integration: Used strictly for secure cloud backups directly controlled by you.
1. What data do we collect?
We collect absolutely nothing.
Simple Vault is designed as an offline-first, zero-knowledge password manager. The App does not have a backend server, does not require you to create an account with us, and does not harvest any personally identifiable information (PII). All your passwords, usernames, URLs, and vault entries are encrypted and remain strictly on your personal device.
2. Google Drive Permissions & Auto-Backup
If you choose to enable the Auto-Backup or Restore features, the App will request authorization to connect to your Google Drive account.
- Scope of Access: The App only requests access to its own dedicated, hidden application data folder (appDataFolder) within your Google Drive. It cannot view, read, modify, or delete any of your personal files, documents, or photos stored in your Google Drive.
- Purpose: This permission is used exclusively to securely upload an encrypted backup file of your vault, and to download it when you choose to restore your data.
- Encryption in Transit & Rest: Before any backup leaves your device, it is encrypted locally using an AES encryption key derived from your Master Password. The data remains fully encrypted while stored in your Google Drive. We do not possess your Master Password and cannot decrypt your backup file.
3. Security Data & Encryption
Simple Vault utilizes industry-standard encryption protocols (AES/SQLCipher) to protect your data.
- The decryption keys are generated locally on your device and are never transmitted over the internet or shared with us.
- It is solely your responsibility to remember your Master Password. Because we do not store your password or possess any "backdoor" access, we cannot help you recover your data if your Master Password is lost or forgotten.
4. Third-Party Sharing and Disclosures
Because we do not collect any user data, customer relationship data, or technical usage data, we have no data to share, sell, or disclose to any third parties, advertising partners, or law enforcement agencies.
5. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our App's functionality or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
6. Contact Us
