Deep Clean Method for "Smelly" Microfiber!
Even when following proper care instructions of your Norwex microfiber using our Ultra Power Plus (UPP) Laundry Detergent, you will still need to deep clean your microfiber with either UPP or Microfiber Cleaner Laundry Booster (MCLB) at least every 6 months.
Analogy: you brush your teeth twice a day but you will go to the dentist every 6 months for a deep cleaning.😁
For starters, care begins during use. Make sure to rub the microfiber vigourously against itself under hot water after using and rinse it out really well. Remember, the silver needs time to work to disable the bacteria from growing so allow your cloth to dry COMPLETELY before using it again, especially after a full-day's use.
The #1 reason for your cloths starting to get smelly is overuse. In a high-traffic area like the kitchen, you'll want to swap out Kitchen Cloths or Counter Cloths every other day. They tend to pick up a lot of protein in this space that bacteria feed on to grow. Basically, if you're overloading the cloth with more bacteria than the silver can handle, the cloth will start to stink.
HOW TO DEEP CLEAN NORWEX MICROFIBER
💚 Using Norwex UPP Laundry Detergent:
1️⃣ Fill sink or bucket with boiled hot water (boil water in a kettle or in a pot on the stove).
We do not recommend boiling your cloths wthout any cleaner/detergent on the stove anymore.
2️⃣ Dissolve Norwex UPP Laundry Detergent in the water: 1 tbsp per 1 L of water (enough for roughly 3 cloths).
Make sure your cloths have room to move in the water and are completely submerged, so be sure to use enough water and adjust your Laundry Detergent accordingly.
3️⃣ Add the cloths, and soak for at least 30 minutes. Agitate them to get the soap and water moving through the fibres.
4️⃣ Rinse each cloth VERY VERY thoroughly with warm water, wring the water out completely. Best to throw in the washing machine for a rinse load with an extra rinse cycle added.
5️⃣ Toss in the dryer without dryer sheets for best results or hang to dry.
If your Norwex cloths were REALLY smelly, or you have NEVER deep cleaned them since you got them a year or two ago, you will need to repeat steps 1-4, until the soapy water doesn't turn brown after 30 minutes.
💚 Using Norwex Microfiber Cleaner Laundry Booster:
Repeat the exact same steps above but instead of using boiled hot water, use the hottest water from your tap.
