Anyone who's been engaged in this kind of work knows that it's far from a solo effort. Behind the scenes there are always editors and publishers who add a huge amount of expertise to the process, not to mention putting their money up to show their belief in a book, so a big shout out to everyone who has helped me on my way – they're far too numerous to mention individually here – but special words of thanks to ...
Teruhiko Kadoyama, for inviting me into so many projects since we first started working together in the YMCA all those years ago, who'd have thought it, eh?!
Paul Lewis of Perceptia Press, for his patience, flexibility, attention to detail, good humour and all-round support. Top bloke (for a Brighton fan).
Tsuyoshi Yoshida of National Geographic Learning, simply a master of his craft!
all the staff, past and present, of Seibido, National Geographic Learning, Macmillan, Eichosha, and Shohakusha
It's always nice to get feedback, but to be honest, I didn't keep a record of most of it! But thanks to all the teachers who've taken a chance with my books and found them to be useful. Feel free to send more if you've got something to add!
"I teach a class at a local university, and we had our first lesson today. As usual, I'm using the textbook "Any Questions?" by Simon Capper. The students loved it! They enjoyed doing the puzzle (some groups got the answer, some didn't), and they wouldn't stop talking when I got them to make a story using the photograph in the unit. It's definitely going to be a fun class! If you teach ESL/EFL and don't know the book, I recommend you check it out!" (Heather Dixon, founder of "I Talk, You Talk Press")
"Just wanted to say I use your textbook (Bedside Manner Beginner) at a nursing college and my students really enjoy it. Thank you for such a great resource of learning." (M.M.)
"Just wanted to send a quick thank you for the Bedside Manner textbook. This year is my first time teaching with it but the text has really served the course better than I could've hoped. It is a thoughtful arrangement of materials and activities and fits (and enhances) my own teaching style quite well." (J.C.)
