Who am I? Well I’m a hard worker with lots of personality. I have lived on a farm all my life, so I learned to work hard for everything and be thankful for what I have. My favorite people are my family. My dad, Stan and my mom, Marilyn, have raised me to be a gentleman and a scholar. My two only and older siblings have given me memories and skills that have made me who I am. Naomi, my sister, was a scholar herself and taught me the motivation to do my best on everything and be friendly with everyone I meet. My brother, Joel, showed me that there will always be someone that doesn’t like you, and that is okay. The only person who can make you feel bad is yourself. I feel really close to Joel because he was always someone to talk to when something went wrong. He would always help me through hard times and always has an interesting perspective. My family lead me to be the person I am today.
As a student in high school, I did my best to get great grades. It worked for the most part and that is why I am a “straight A” student. I had some trouble because I was really shy, but I overcame that and gained confidence. I got into some extracurricular activities like Scholars Bowl and FFA. I chose these activities because I am intelligent and I live on a farm. It turned out to be really fun, and I made new friends. I plan on going to NCK technical college in Beloit for automotive technology. NCK Tech has a really good program, and I want to meet new people to make more friends. I made sure to take all three years of automotive classes in high school so that I am ready for college. I plan on using my education to become a mechanic.
The job I would like ultimately is owning a car dealership. I want to have this job because I want to make people be happy with their car, and I want the mechanic background, so I know what I am selling. I like to see people happy, so selling them a great looking and running car is the best thing for me since I love cars. I plan on being a mechanic until I become a pro at it. Then I will consider if I want to run a dealership or not. It will take lots of work and something will probably change in the future. But if everything works out, this is my current plan.
Currently, I have two jobs. I have worked at the local grocery store since 2017, and at Durland Auto parts since June of 2018. I have met tons of people and expanded network of people a lot since I started my jobs. I started my NAPA job so that I can get familiar with the automotive world. I have learned a lot about the world of automotive technicians like I wanted. Also, because of my NAPA job, I found a senior project. I put in a 454 engine in a truck my new acquaintance Russel. It has given me perspective on my future career.
Here are some quick facts that make me who I am. My favorite leisure activities are reading, listening to music, or watching a movie. My favorite movie is “Smokey and the Bandit”. It is a hilarious classic that Burt Renolds is great in. My favorite quotes are, “Happiness is contagious” and “Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard.” Both of these describe me a lot. I always am smiling because it makes everyone’s mood better including my own. I also work hard for everything I have, and it usually does not come easy.
