Meet the new co-directors of SIMD!
Sometimes, it’s hard to solve statistical, methodological (including qualitative methods!), and data-related issues on your own. Academia is a collaborative field, where we benefit from sharing knowledge among peers and learn from those with more experience. The goal of the SIMD workshop (Statistics, Interpretation, Methods, and Data) is to facilitate knowledge sharing among and between graduate students and faculty surrounding tough statistical, methodological, and data-related issues in order to help students learn advanced skills, solve problems more efficiently, and build collaborative working and problem-solving spaces.
Additionally, the SIMD workshop will be a platform for lectures and/or talks on problem solving, lectures on needed content, or new and/or innovative statistical, methodological, and data management techniques occurring in the social sciences.
Importantly, SIMD is a space for both qualitative and quantative methods. Too often these methodological fields are separated. Good scholars are literate in both, and the SIMD workshop aims to provide a space for all methods.
