BASIC NAVIGATION TRAINING
Basic Navigation training will take place at the Cadet Centre on Maydays from Oct 16th to Dec 18th, from 1900-2100 (7pm to 9pm). During this training, cadets will learn about latitude and longitude, how to read maps and charts, take bearings and range, plot and follow a course. The cadets will also have an opportunity to put their skills in practice and use our simulator. The cadets who sign up for this training will be expected to act as crew members of our simulated ship.
ITEMS REQUIRED:
No prior knowledge is required.
Cadets will be required to wear their uniform and follow appropriate naval traditions.
It is recommended that cadets attend this course with a pencil and paper to take notes.
Proper behaviour is requested and required at all times.
ITEMS NOT PROVIDED:
Food is not provided, so please bring a favorite snack to eat and a drink for consumption during Stand-Easy (break).
CLASS SIZE: 20 MAX.
A Certificate of Completion will be presented to the cadets who successfully complete the training.
This course is offered as a complement to cadet training. Attendance will be taken. This course does not count towards volunteer hours.
