Dr. Silvio Contessi - Bio

Silvio Contessi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Banking and Finance at Monash Business School, that he joined in 2015. His principal research interests are banking, macro-finance, and international finance. He is the Lead Investigator of an Australian Research Council Discovery Project entitled "Gross credit flows, credit reallocation, and the macroeconomy."

Silvio is a research associate at the Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and of the Monash Center for Development Economics and Sustainability.

He received his B.A./M.A. from UniversitĂ  Bocconi (Milan, Italy) in 1999, and was awarded his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA) in 2004 and 2008, respectively.

Before joining Monash, Silvio was a research economist in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (2008-2015) and an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Economics at Washington University in St. Louis (2012-2015).
