About

I am an associate professor in the Department of Counseling at Sonoma State University, where I teach in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.

I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Saybrook University, and three separate master's degrees in counseling, psychology, and Jungian psychology.

I am a licensed psychologist with experience in non-profit, juvenile detention, public health, medical, and private practice settings, where I have provided a range of services including individual, couples, and group therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and elders. I currently maintain a private practice specializing in integrative depth psychotherapy and neurofeedback.

My teaching interests include psychotherapy theory, clinical skill development, the theory and practice of depth psychotherapies, and trauma therapy.

My research focuses on LGBTQ+ issues, depth psychology/ psychotherapy, shame, and trauma. I am primarily interested in  deeply qualitative, emancipatory methods that convey lived experience in both interesting and emotionally evocative ways, such as poetic inquiry, photo-elicitation, narrative, autoethnography, and autobiography.
