Dan Patulot from Lodlod Integrated National High School (LINHS) claims victory upon defeating 3-time champion Lance Gamas from Bolbok Integrated National High School (BINHS) by 3-1 in the 2024 Public Secondary Athletic Meet Table Tennis Championship Match held at BINHS’ home court on Tuesday, December 10.
Patulot started off strong by earning the first point of the match. Gamas, looking tense, returns the favor by earning a point as well. As the rally continued, the tension in the court started getting heavy when the score got even. Patulot finished the first set by setting a score of 11-9.
Still in the moment, Patulot earns the first point in the second set. Keeping the fire alive, Patulot smashes off Gamas by setting a score of 7-3, and to loosen up the tension, BINHS calls for a timeout. Patulot ended the second set with the score 11-8.
As the players change places every set, Gamas earns the first and also the second point in the third set. Although the score got tied by 11, Gamas finished it off with a final score of 11-13.
Gamas, still feeling tense, earns the first point for the fourth and last set. Patulot, keeping up with the heat, scores a point back. Lodlod Integrated National High School’s Dan Patulot, igniting the fire, ends the final set right then and there by a score of 11-4.
In an interview, Patulot was asked how he was feeling after the game wherein he simply replied, ‘’Masaya.’’ He also felt thankful for his opponent, Lance Gamas, for giving him a great match. Patulot is set to compete in the Stallions League set next year.
The roar of the crowd, the clash of bodies, the thrill of victory – these are the hallmarks of varsity sports. But for many teams, the path to glory isn't paved with state-of-the-art facilities and lavish training programs. It's carved out through sheer grit, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence despite a stark lack of resources. And that, perhaps, is the most compelling story of all.
Dan Patulot from Lodlod National High School recently clashed with Bolbok Integrated National High School’s 3-time defending champion, Lance Gamas, and claimed the crown of victory. Patulot, holding the title of 2024 Public Secondary Athletic Meet Table Tennis Champion, will advance to the 2025 Stallion’s League to take place next year.
