Our esteemed SIL-Austria member, Prof. Ruben Sommaruga, has been awarded with the prestigious Baldi Memorial Lecture Award for 2024 by the International Society of Limnology (SIL). The former head of the Department of Ecology at the University of Innsbruck has dedicated decades to pioneering research in the realm of microbial limnology, with a specialized focus on the ecology of high alpine lakes.

This Baldi Award serves as a testament to his remarkable contributions to theoretical limnology, recognizing his groundbreaking and inspiring research. Congratulations, Ruben! We eagerly anticipate his keynote address on this subject at the upcoming 2024 SIL conference in Brazil.
