In Your Hands: Promoting Early Diverse Deaf Engagement in the Cognitive Sciences
This project, In Your Hands: Promoting Early Diverse Deaf Engagement in the Cognitive Sciences, was developed by an interdisciplinary team of graduate students at Gallaudet University.
In Your Hands motivates early interest and participation from DHH (deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deafdisabled) K-12 students in the interdisciplinary fields of cognitive science by providing direct, accessible instruction and open-access bilingual materials for use by educators of DHH students nationwide.

Lesson Plans (Sample)
This sample lesson plan is designed for grades 3-5. It is intended for use with a class of 25 students, and will take about one hour. Please modify lesson plans as needed.
Visiting Schools
Our team visited the Maryland School for the Deaf, Columbia Campus, to teach students in grades K-8.
The topic of our lessons was bilingualism and the brain, introducing cognitive science with instruction focused on ASL-English bilinguals and multilingual signers. You can read about our visit here:
