Join SIGN10 in Trinidad!
The 10th edition of the SIGN conference series will be held at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad & Tobago, from Monday 9 until Thursday 12 December 2024, with pre-conference sessions on the morning of Monday 9 December when people can brush up on their International Sign and learn some local signs. You can find more information about timings here.
The call for abstracts for SIGN10 has now ended. Abstracts have been through a review process, and people have been informed about acceptance of abstracts. Registration for SIGN10 opened on 1 May 2024.
From Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 December 2024 there will be training for deaf people in the Caribbean on topics such as research skills, sign language teaching, curriculum design and policy/advocacy. More information about this, including how to apply, is coming soon here.

Keynote Presenters
Danielle Thompson
Danielle Thompson is the first deaf Trinbagonian to obtain a PhD. She works at Gallaudet University in the School of Language, Education and Culture as Associate Professor of International Development. Her work includes teaching and research on deaf counselling, bullying, careers, diversity and deaf education.
Marianne is Associate Professor and researcher in linguistics at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) Brazil. For 20 years, she has worked in deaf education, trained Brazilian SL (Libras) teachers and interpreters, and developed the Libras curriculum from early childhood to Higher Education.
Lina is Assistant Professor in the linguistics department at University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research encompasses describing sign languages in the US and Mexico, language socialisation, ideologies of signing communities, and social justice and inclusion in sign language linguistics.
