This Privacy Policy explains how Siftrides ("Sift", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Sift mobile application ("the App") for e-hailing (rides) and parcel delivery in South Africa. By using Sift, you agree to this policy.
Account & profile information

Location information
We collect your device's precise location to show your position on the map, match you with nearby drivers, calculate routes and fares, and enable live trip tracking.
For drivers, we collect location while you are online — including in the background — so riders and senders can track the trip in real time. You can stop this at any time by going offline or disabling location permission.
Driver verification information (drivers only)
Driver's licence, identity document, vehicle registration, and insurance details
Vehicle information (make, model, year, colour, number plate) and a photo of the vehicle
A selfie/profile photo used for identity verification
Rider identity verification (riders, where applicable)
An identity document and a selfie, used to confirm your identity for safety
Trip & delivery information
Pickup, stops, and drop-off addresses; fares; ride and parcel history
Proof of delivery for parcels (a photo and the recipient's signature)
Ratings and in-app chat messages between riders and drivers
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment provider (Paystack). Card details are entered and handled securely by Paystack — we do not store your full card number.

Device identifiers, app version, and push-notification tokens

We share limited information with trusted service providers only as needed to operate Sift:
Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, notifications, crash reporting, app security)
Google Maps Platform (maps, routes, and place search)
Paystack (payment processing and driver payouts)
Twilio (sending one-time verification codes by SMS)
ZEGOCLOUD (in-app voice calling between riders and drivers)
Amazon Web Services (AWS Rekognition) (identity/face verification)
Each provider processes your data under its own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.
To complete a trip or delivery, we share necessary details between the parties — for example, a driver sees the rider's name, pickup and drop-off, and a rider sees the driver's name, vehicle, photo, and live location. In-app calling connects you without revealing your phone number.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Trip, delivery, and payment records may be retained longer where required for accounting, legal, or safety purposes.
You can access or update your profile in the App. You may request that we delete your account and personal data by contacting us at the email below (some records may be retained where the law requires). Riders can also delete their account from within the App where that option is available.
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
Sift is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
