SierraComix

I love to talk about the things I love!

Next to release dates, you'll see a diamond symbol. Here's what they mean:

◆ Major video (High effort - this video is important to me)

◇ Minor video (Low effort - this is a side-video. Maybe it's a short bonus video, maybe it's just not the type of video I like to make.)

Likely future videos
titles are very temporary lol

"I'm in love with I'm in love with the Villainess" // A video that'll probably be structured similarly to the Color Splash video, leading with rambling about liking the series, and then having some serious analysis towards the end. I rather like that format at the moment.

"My favorite game and its awful follow-up" // Gushing about Super Paper Mario while comparing it Sticker Star. Broadly, the latter is bad, but it honestly feels more like it was specifically designed not to have any of the good that Super had. I already get into this in the Color Splash video though, is the thing.

"Cho Kuse Pt. 1.5" // A smaller update video. The cho kuse project has come a massive way since the first video, so I think it's in order, though I would rather pick up the last missing volume first so I can just skip to finally making part 2.

"Gakuen Tengoku and the 'Hitomi Archive' project" // A similar idea to the cho kuse video series, documenting the journey to archive and scanlate it.

My love-hate relationship with Paper Mario: Color Splash

◆ TBD

I'll let the video speak for itself when it comes out, but I really like this game. It's so fucking funny. Huey is a goated partner, one of my favorites in the series. The soundtrack is legitimately something I listen to on a regular basis, and the only reason it's not on my iPod is it would be a hassle to add. It's a shame so many people rebuke the game on principle, because as someone who was a fan of the original trilogy first, I love it. And I feel like analyzing the plot is something OG paper mario fans ought to do... but you'll get why when you see the video.

Also I am on a roll with making quality thumbnails, damn!

The Kersti clipart in the corner was a pain in the ass though. I had to upscale and modify her ingame assets because I wanted something that fit with the style Mario and Huey are in. I spent more time looking at her than I ever wanted to again after I played sticker star. And about the line at the bottom, my image editor doesn't like Pop Joy, (the paper mario font,) and I had to render that line in a text editor to prevent the tails of the Y and G from clipping at the bottom. It worked though!

How 'bout that flower by the subtitle? It's a very late addition, but it's to be in line with an element of the video that's been planned since the first draft. Flowers, there to represent the things that I love about this game, because I believe players should stop to smell the roses more. Since Color Splash is the sort of game where if you try to rush through it, you'll rush right through the best parts, I felt that an underlying theme of "stop to smell the roses" (or flowers, ig) would be a perfect fit. And for some trivia, it's traced from the very first paintable flower in Ruddy Road.

Is it really just a headcanon?

Honestly, I wasn't fully convinced myself until I started writing this video. I just wanted to talk about one of my favorite series, especially the gay subtext to the whole "vassal" thing. But then I found out about the names thing... and, WOW, my perspective changed- and this video became priority no. 1.

I have to say, I'm not entirely satisfied with this video. The audio quality is all over the place... The analysis section is great, but it makes the surrounding segments feel mercilessly unstructured... Excellent points didn't occur to me until well into editing, and I had to relegate them to blocks of text over the relevant scenes... I couldn't reasonably fix these things by the time they came up. Not to mention, I need a proper suspension stand to put my mic close enough to my face for the audio to consistently sound good. But all of that said... I'm still very proud of how this video turned out, and I hope people enjoy it.

This video has two given titles and thumbnails. For its initial release, the title The Theory that I'm Certain is Fact - Demon Girl Next Door was chosen, alongside the blue text "THEY'RE GAY" thumbnail. Due to underperformance, (when we hit 1.5k we hit a brick wall on views,) I made a less visually appealing thumbnail based on the original that's designed to be a bit more eyecatching- Black text. Finally, once optimizing views was no longer important, the video was switched to the textless thumbnail and above title, as I prefer it for its provocative nature. Oh, the struggle between art and the algorithm...

Oh, and if you want to know where the thumbnail art's from: It's from the series' twitter.

I'm worried about Nintendo

◇ November 3, 2025, 12:01 PM (EST)

Due to the controversy of the Switch 2's price and all of the other greed Nintendo is accused of, I wanted to talk about my thoughts on it all. Plus maybe make a small video to show that I'm alive.

This video went through a surprising amount of full restructurings, a lot of which happening because my own opinions changed as I wrote it. Earlier drafts were straight up something I thought NintenDeen might be open to promoting. My original intention was to just roll with the "furukawa bad iwata good" narrative, and while I do still firmly believe that he's a massive downgrade, I decided against it. It's overdone. Everyone's already picked a side on that.

Eventually the video turned into just presenting modern Nintendo's slimy behaviors, some of which I'd not seen talked about online prior, and letting the viewer come to their own conclusions.

(Take 3c cut) My Awful Year-Long Archival Experience (Cho Kuse Pt. 2)

◆ Not published

What exists of the unreleased Cho Kuse Pt. 2.

This video was going to cover the process of finding the tapes, capture re-mastering, the Video CD and JH K captures, and responses to comments and the like.

I completed the first part of it, and then ADHD'd out until my priorities shifted to keeping things quiet. A real shame too, as it used heaps of music from an underground musician I'm a big fan of. Ri0Gen. Could've gotten the guy some attention.

(Take 1 cut) How a Crossdressing Idol is a metaphor for Trans Self-Expression

◇ Not published

This video was an experiment. I wanted to see if posting a small video before a large one would help to draw attention in. But the big video that was to be paired with this one...was cho kuse pt 2. Which will likely never come out, due to shifted priorities on my part.

The video itself is about comparing my trans experiences to Nagisa's behavior to demonstrate why I don't think she's trans.

Why I HATE Ep. 10 of Cho Kuse

April 28, 2024

I was called out for not explaining why I hate this and episode 15. So this is my response.

NOTE, adding this in May '26- the existence of these shorts is rather ironic now. Refining my channel's identity has brought me to a point where I don't really care to make negative videos, especially if I feel it's not warranted. These shorts were the definition of unwarranted... They won't happen again. 'Cause...the internet can be so negative, but something I know many people love is to hear someone talk about what they love. That's what I've decided to do with my channel, as of my machikado video. Talk about the media I love.

How I discovered Cho Kuse

Cho Kuse pt.1 was underperforming, so I released a short of one of its highlights to try and bring in more viewers.

The Nearly Lost Anime that Changed My Life (Cho Kuse Pt.1)

Exposition... and gushing. All the gushing. Plus a bit about the subtitles.

The upload that was made public was uploaded on April 2nd.
