The Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Prof. Shazrene S. Mohamed. The researcher will investigate topics related to low- and high-mass evolved stars, their interactions with nearby companions, and/or their explosions (see SIE3D for more information). As such, preference will be given to candidates with a strong interest in stellar astrophysics and background in any of the following: (magneto-)hydrodynamics, radiative transfer, astrochemistry/dust formation and explosive nucleosynthesis.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics, or a related field by the starting date of the appointment is required. Computational astrophysics experience is preferred.

The nominal starting date is September 1, 2024, but earlier appointments are possible.

The position is for one year, renewable for a second and third year, contingent on performance and funding.
