Writing

At my core I am a writer. There is no escaping that fact. Everything I work on will always begin with a story. That being said, I have never been able to stay in one particular genre or form of writing. There are certain themes my work often includes (identity, queerness, monsters, family, etc.), but I explore these themes in many different ways. I work in poetry, fragmentation, short fiction, journalism, personal and academic essays, and hybrid forms. This is only a small sample of the work that I do.

The Birds Have Moved On: Senior Thesis (2021)

I spent three years studying creative writing at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. That school, those teachers, and the fellow writers who went through the program with me helped make me the writer I am now. I learned to understand the birds that haunt my words as well as the bird who lives in my chest. At the end of those three years, I crafted my senior thesis: 2 essays, 5 poems, and 1 short story, all together becoming, "The Birds Have Moved On."
