Sidne K. Gard

About the Artist

Sidne K. Gard is a queer cartoonist, writer, and artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Their work focuses on history, identity, love, and monsters.

They are a Comics MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). In spring 2025, they earned their BFAW from SAIC.

They are the managing editor of F Newsmagazine. Additionally, they are an illustrator for The Copyright Society. They co-founded the small press Christopher Goblin, where they've published many zines and comics.

"If It Is The End Of My
World, I Do Not Want To Be
Fast Asleep" (2024)

Showcased at the SAIC 2024 Fall Undergraduate Exhibition and the New England Quilt Museum's show Just Wanna Copyright for Makers, "If It Is The End Of My World, I Do Not Want To Be Fast Asleep," is a project that lives in the grey between history and fiction. Through comics, this fictitious interview across time with British-American author Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986) uses words from his writings and interviews to discuss queerness and fascism.

This project is currently being expanded into a full-length graphic novel as part of Gard's MFA work.

Meet Zev, an excitable, young werewolf with a million questions and just as many worries. Every day, he learns more about the world around him, from owls to school to thunderstorms to sharing to bedtime.

"Mundane Judaica" (2024)

How do we remember our ancestors' stories when all we have left of them are everyday heirlooms? Can objects come together to create a narrative? Can we narratively reconnect an assimilated family?
