About me
Welcome to my homepage. I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the oldest and largest of the IITs. As Head of the Hybrid Materials Group, I am leading a bunch of brilliant young minds on their journey to becoming true leaders in the fascinating field of materials science and engineering. The focus of my research lies in developing advanced hybrid materials such as composites, foams, functionally graded materials, etc., using state-of-the-art fabrication techniques, and performing in-depth characterization of their microstructure and properties. The research in my group is relevant to various advanced areas such as automobiles, aviation, ultra high-temperature aerospace, biomedical, oil and gas sector, energy sector, etc., and we regularly receive research funding from several government and private sector organizations within India. My career as a materials engineer and scientist has allowed me to work in both research and industry in three different countries and my vast experience includes materials characterization using synchrotron radiation, aging management in both boiling water and pressurized water nuclear reactors, materials development using advanced casting, powder metallurgy, and laser processing routes, development of advanced Al-alloys, as well as the quality control of cobalt- and nickel-based hard metals.
