SICOGG26/WAFL18 Call for Papers

WAFL 18 and SICOGG 26 will host a joint conference August 22-24, 2024 at Jeonbuk National University in Jeonju, South Korea. The special theme of the conference is “Comparative Altaic Grammar”. Abstracts are invited for 20-minute in-person talks (plus 10-minute discussions) and for posters from all areas of generative grammar, which may include phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, the syntax-pragmatics interface, the syntax-semantics interface, the syntax-morphology interface, the syntax-phonology interface, acquisition, and any other topic related to generative grammar. The term 'Altaic' is understood to include Turkic, Mongolic, and Tungusic languages, as well as Korean, Jejueo, Japanese, Ryukyuan, and Ainu. In keeping with our theme preference will be given to submissions that address either (i) comparative investigations within Altaic languages, or (ii) comparative investigations between Altaic and non-Altaic languages. 


Abstract Submission Guidelines

 Applicants for oral/poster presentations must submit their abstracts by March 31st, 2024 April 7th, 2024. Abstracts should be submitted on Oxford Abstracts at https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/34468/submitter. Follow the online guidelines to upload your abstract. Only electronic submissions through the aforementioned link will be considered. Abstracts must be anonymous and may not exceed 2 pages (A4 or US letter), including examples (embedded within the text) but not references, with 2.54 cm (1 inch) margin on all four sides and should employ 12 point Times New Roman font. As references do not count toward the page limit, you are requested to include a full list of references on a third page. Submissions are limited to a maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author. Please indicate whether the submitted work is proposed for a poster, an oral presentation, or either. Abstracts must be submitted no later than Mar 31, 2024 April 7th, 2024. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection on or after May 15, 2024. Each speaker will be allotted 20 minutes for their oral presentation and 10 minutes for discussion.
