University of Gour Banga
The University of Gour Banga is a State Aided University and it was established under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 2007 on 19th February 2008 and recognized by UGC u/s 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. It is situated amidst rural settings in the state of West Bengal, India. Currently, 23 postgraduate research departments across three faculties with enrolments of nearly 1500 are running in this institution. 25 General degree colleges with an enrolment of nearly one Lakh in Malda, Dakshin Dinajpur and Raiganj subdivision of Uttar Dinajpur districts are affiliated with this university. The University has its unique ideology of providing all aspects of education comprising of Physical, Practical, Aesthetic, Moral and Intellectual.
Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics, University of Gour Banga began its journey along with the inception of the University with two faculty members and 50 students in 2008. It has a strength of five faculty members and one support staff. The Department provides two Academic Programs: M.Sc. and Ph.D. The intake of the M. Sc. course is 110 students per year. The students are admitted to M.Sc. course purely on merit basis. Faculty members are actively involved in diverse fields of research such as Set-theoretic Topology, Selection Principles, General Topology, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Electrodynamics, Electrokinetics, Blood Flow, Magnetohydrodynamics, Plasma Dynamics, Nonlinear Waves, Fractional Differential Equations, etc. At present, ten research scholars are pursuing PhD under the guidance of the faculty members of the department.
