SIBL (Stable Isotope Biogeochemistry Laboratory) is located in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University, Durham, UK. SIBL is the brainchild of Dr Darren R. Gröcke who has been involved with stable isotope geochemistry since 1996. SIBL was first named by Darren in 2000 when he was based in London (England), before moving to Ontario (Canada) in 2003 and then relocating back to England in 2007. SIBL has been primarily involved with geological and archaeological research involving stable isotope analysis, but in recent years it has now developed a keen interest in the investigation of modern marine and terrestrial environments. The SIBL group and its collaborators have a diverse array of interests and expertise ranging from archaeology, biology, botany, chemistry, geography, geology, hydrology, limnology, oceanography, and zoology.
