Travel and Local Information

Conference venue

The conference will be held at Seattle University located in central Seattle, near downtown and the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Sessions will be held on campus. Downtown Seattle is a 25 min walk or a 10 min car ride from the university.

Traveling to/from the airport

The easiest cheap way to get to Seattle University and/or the Silver Cloud Hotel from the airport is to take the light rail. The light rail operates from 6:00am until midnight every day. Trains run every 6, 10, or 15 minutes depending on the time of day. A one-way ticket costs $3.00.

  1. From baggage claim, follow the signs to “Link light rail.” For details, see https://www.portseattle.org/page/public-transit-link-light-rail
  2. Take a light rail train north towards the University of Washington. Note: that the conference is being held at Seattle University, not the University of Washington.
  3. Get off at the Capitol Hill station.
  4. From the Capitol Hill station either:
    • Walk south on Broadway East, which changes into Broadway. Walk approximately 0.6 miles to the Silver Cloud Hotel. Continue one block on Broadway to get to Seattle University. The hotel and university are both on the east (left) side of Broadway.
    • OR, take the Street Car from the Capitol Hill Station south to the Silver Cloud Hotel and/or Seattle University.

Parking on/near Campus

On-Campus Parking

Parking permits are required on the Seattle University campus and may be purchased at automated pay stations. The current rates can be found online at https://www.seattleu.edu/transportation/parking/visitor-parking/

Permit pay machines are located throughout campus and accept Visa and Mastercard.

  • 12th and E. Marion St (Visitor Lot, P5)
  • 11th and E Cherry St (Murphy Garage, Map Location - P4)
  • Broadway and E. Columbia St. (Broadway Garage – P3)


Off-Campus Parking

The Silver Cloud hotel provides secure covered parking with unlimited in and out privileges. ($38 nightly charge, plus applicable taxes). There are also several pay parking lots located along Broadway just north of the Silver Cloud hotel. You can find a map of off-campus pay lots at https://www.parkme.com/map#Seattle%20University

Street parking is also available and is free on Sunday.
