The University of Limerick SIAM Student Chapter are hosting the 8th Annual Irish SIAM Student Chapter Conference on Friday 21st January 2022.
Regular Events
We'll be running a reccuring journal club, starting October 8th 2020 at 6pm! Here, you can volunteer to present a paper you found interesting and discuss it critically with other members. This will be held online, details are available here.

August 11th: Undergraduate Talk Competition 2021.
March 23rd: "The Life of a PhD Student" Panel Discussion. Three current/past PhD students give an overview of the application process and their experiences in applied mathematics.
February 18th: Industry talk (online) from Dr Benoit Dherin (Google) and Dr. David Barrett (Deep Mind) on "Implicit Gradient Regularization".
2020
December 4th: 7th Annual SIAM Irish Student Chapter Conference (online).
November 12th: Journal Club presentation by Enda Carroll on "From Kuramoto to Crawford: exploring the onset of synchronization in populations of coupled oscillators" by Steven H.Strogatz (2000).
November 3rd: Industry talk from Dr Sarah Gallagher (online), head of observations at Met Éireann. She will speak on her career and working in meteorology.
October 8th: Edward Donlon on "Artificial neural networks for solving ordinary and partial differential equations" by Lagaris, I. E., Likas, A., & Fotiadis, D. I. (1998).
October 6th: Industry talk from Professor Brendan Murphy of UCD (online). He will speak about COVID-19 modelling, where modelling approaches in the context of Ireland will be discussed.
August 13th: Undergraduate Talk Competition (online). Talk competition for undergraduate members with monetary prizes.
February 6th: Seminar Series @18:00h in Trinity College Dublin, Hamilton Building Maxwell Theatre. Speakers: Enda Carroll, MSc (interim Chapter President) & Dr Nicole Beisiegel (University College Dublin): "An Adaptive Model for Storm Waves".
