My research lies at the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science. I study how generalized symmetries organize quantum phases of matter and to use these insights to inform new approaches to quantum computing. In particular, I explore how symmetry principles can guide the design of quantum error-correcting codes and fault-tolerant quantum information processing.
I have also developed theoretical frameworks for understanding topological phases of matter, especially those protected by crystalline and quasicrystalline symmetries. My work spans topological band theory, higher-order topological superconductors, and fracton topological orders.
I was a Senior Quantum Error Correction Engineer at IQM Quantum Computers, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, and a Joint Quantum Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park.
I completed my graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder under the supervision of Professor Michael Hermele, earning my PhD in 2019.
