Shuang (Sharon) Gao

Hi, I'm a final-year Ph.D candidate in Information Systems at W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. I am fortunate to have Dr. Pei-yu Chen (Chair), Dr. Olivia Liu Sheng (Member), and Dr. Jiding Zhang (Member) as my dissertation committee. 

My research centers on emerging technologies for information provision and design in digital platforms. Through technologies such as AR and Gen-AI, platforms serve users with information that intervenes in their search and decision process. I am excited to diagnose the "backfire moments" when technologies lead to unintended outcomes, and, accordingly, my studies offer suggestions on technology adoption and integration for platforms and sellers. I deploy Causal ML techniques, empirical modeling, as well as field/online experiments to address the real-world research questions.
