Project Based Design Thinking for Co-op, SHSM Sector Partnered Experiential Learning, Certifications, Technological Education Curriculum ....and more
The mission of this project is to provide students with sector specific experiences or challenges that will provide authentic opportunities to develop transferable critical thinking skills and solve sector related problems.
Students can be guided through using the Experiential Learning Model
Participate: What? Students are immersed in an experience, acknowledging what they are doing, what they are thinking, and what they are feeling during the experience.
Reflect: So what? Students think about their experience, guided by reflective questions and prompts, and identify what they learned as a result of the experience – about themselves, other people, the world, their opportunities, or the subject of study.
Apply: Now what? Students describe how their learning stimulates further inquiry; how it has influenced – or may influence – their decisions, opinions, goals, and plans; and what they might do differently if they have a similar experience in future.

Welcome to the Virtual Sector Specific Problem Solving (challenge-based) Experience. We are excited to provide you the opportunity to learn about the Career Sector you are interested in and develop new skills, while you work through the Design Thinking Process to experience solving real life problems.
If you are a SHSM student, be sure to communicate with your program lead to ensure that you take advantage of the certifications, SPCE and other opportunities this experience can provide.
If this is your co-op experience, it is also important for you to complete these things regularly:
Complete your log sheet
Update your Learning Plan
Communicate with your cooperative education teacher and your co-op sector mentor/supervisor
Make your own copy of the Student Guide.
Rename your Student Guide.
Use your copy of the Student Guide to guide you through the process.
Document key elements as you progress.
These experiences will meet the expectations of the following:
