VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Olney Civic Fund (OCF) has two opportunities. One is for grants that provide money for a specific project. The second are partnerships where in exchange for providing the volunteer base (with supervision) for specific jobs needed for Olney Days Party in the Park, the group receives a donation. This donation can be used however they wish.
The three that are available include:
managing the tents (set up and take down) for $2,000,
managing waste (being sure waste is separated into correct compost, recycle, and waste bins as well as clean up the park after the event) for $2,000, and
running an activity to entertain middle to high school aged groups for a revenue share. In the past a group has rented carnival style games (like whack a mole) and other years Olney Civic Fund has created (and still has all the materials) for Minute to Win It style games. If the Minute to Win it games are to be used, then an OCF representative would work with the group about how to run them. Alternatively, a group may come with a new idea that would appeal to this age group and generate revenue.
Each provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills. Please share this information with groups that may be interested. Deadline for the grant application is this Friday (1/17) but the Partnership deadline is 1/31.
