Established in 2006, we have been competing for 16 years, and have made 13 appearances at State! We have competed in all styles of dance, high kick, pom, hip hip and pom. Not only do we compete during our season, but we also perform for events within the Superior School District such as, homecoming, assemblies, basketball and hockey games. We also participate in community events such as, the Fourth of July parade, Future Dancer Camp, Christmas City of the North parade, and local recitals!
Brooke is a 2014 SHDT alumni! She has been a part of SHDT coaching staff since 2017 and took over as head coach in 2021. Her favorite style of dance is kick. Her favorite thing about coaching is getting to help create positive high school memories for her dancers and helping them build life skills while on the team.
Becca is a 2020 SHDT alumni! She has been a part of SHDT coaching staff since 2021. Her favorite style of dance is pom. Her favorite things about coaching is seeing how the dances progress over the season and watching dancers finally master a skill that they have been working hard on.
Ricky danced for 10 years of his childhood, all competitive, making it to nationals in Las Vegas for tap at age 11 was a highlight. He continued to study his favorites, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, ballet technique, musical theater style all in a studio (Madill, Duluth MN). He also danced on the Spartan Dance Team in high school before returning back to studio. Ricky joined the SHDT coaching staff in 2025.
"I am so excited to work with the team and get to be on the other side of dance, and to learn from my fellow coaches and dancers as well. I think I will bring some spunk, higher level technique and some sass and attitude that the dancers can learn from. I am excited to be apart of the local community and the local dance community."
Dance team is considered a winter sport, which is when our competition season is, but we also participate in out of season performances and events. Please note that we would like as much participation as possible in out of season events, but we understand that dancers may have other commitments during the summer and participate in summer/fall sports. Here is an overview of what our typical season looks like after May tryouts:
Summer
*Fundraisers- We hold all of our fundraisers throughout the summer. These include car washes, Cub Foods grocery bagging, face painting at local events, and working at the Duluth Air Show.
*Practices- Throughout the summer we hold skills practices (usually 1-2 per week). These practices are optional, but we highly recommend attending them. This gives the dancers the opportunity to work on skills, conditioning, flexibility, and getting to know their teammates and coaches.
*4th of July Parade
*Just For Kix Dance Camp-Our team attends a 4 day dance camp in Brainerd, MN! It is not required to attend, but HIGHLY encouraged! Dancers are trained by professional dancers and choreographers in all styles of dance. This is an amazing opportunity to grow as a dancer and bond as a team.
Fall
*Homecoming- In September we perform at the homecoming assembly, parade, and football game. This is always a super fun day!
*Spooktacular Parade
*Future Spartan Dancer Camp

Our official season starts the first week of November and runs through February!
