What?

It's a free-ish, online image generator that takes the words you type and creates images. For example, the image on the left was produced by the phrase, "cyberpunk watermelon." If you go to the makerspace homepage, you'll see "chihuahua wearing a top hat in a blue dress, oil painting"

I've got some real weird ideas. How do I sign up?

To sign up for Dall-E 2, go to this link. Your school email should work fine. You'll have to wait to be let off the "wait list". It only took a day for me.

Note that it won't work for certain prompts, like specific people. Check out this link for a list of things it won't let you do.
