Interests:

• I am interested in writing efficient code to solve real-world problems with the help of machine learning (artificial intelligence).
• My interests are in the areas of applied machine learning and multi-modal AI for activity recognition and computational behavior analysis as applied to the healthcare space.

Research Experience:

Graduate Research Assistant

• Advisor : Prof. Thomas Ploetz, Georgia Tech
• Activity Recognition :
  • Working on a NIH funded research project in the domain of Activity Recognition. Studying severe behavior exhibited by autistic children
  • Using machine learning, signal processing and deep learning for analyzing streams of sensor data.
  • Working towards building models with temporal context to segment and classify these activities.
  • Data studied is collected using both body-worn sensors and videos

Research Student

• Advisor : Prof. Eric Gilbert [worked in collaboration with Tanushree Mitra, a former PhD student], Georgia Tech
• Conspiracy Theories on Reddit :
  • Studying conspiracy theories on reddit
  • Study of the r/conspiracy and r/conspiracyAMA subreddit
  • Data gathering from these two subreddits – working with bigquery and the google cloud storage
  • Obtaining knowledge out of this data
  • Fetching user timelines for the users who have participated in these subreddits
  • Identifying the basic thread structure of these subreddits
  • Applying sophisticated techniques to study the thread structure (study based on ongoing work in this field in the comp.social lab)
  • Future Work:
    • Time frame of a conspiracy, influential factors for a conspiracy
    • External factors influencing or that gave rise to these theories
    • Study can be geared towards the users – How do they behave on other forums? Does the information they gather elsewhere affect the kind of discussions held on this subreddit? Does information percolate?
    • Can we predict discussions given a situation where a new but similar conspiracy were to be faced?
