Focuses on the fundamental nature of reality, existence, and being.
Key topics: Ontology, the nature of objects and their properties, space and time, causality, and the concept of the self.
2. Epistemology:
Studies the nature, scope, and limits of knowledge and belief.
Key topics: Theories of knowledge, justification, skepticism, perception, and the sources of knowledge (empiricism vs. rationalism).
3. Ethics (Moral Philosophy):
Examines concepts of right and wrong, morality, and justice.
Key topics: Utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, moral relativism, and applied ethics.
4. Logic and Critical Thinking:
Concerned with principles of reasoning, argumentation, and the structure of valid inference.
Key topics: Propositional and predicate logic, fallacies, formal proofs, and the philosophy of language.
5. Philosophy of Religion:
Explores philosophical questions regarding religion, faith, and the divine.
