How does Shrinkr work?

Shrinkr scans your photo library for large photos, shows you how much space you could save, and shrinks them in one tap. The original moves to Recently Deleted (recoverable for 30 days) while a smaller copy takes its place.

Will I lose any photos?

No. Originals are never permanently deleted by Shrinkr — they go to your Recently Deleted album, same as if you'd deleted them yourself, and stay there for Apple's standard 30-day recovery window.

Are my favorited photos safe?

Yes. Favorited photos are automatically excluded and never modified.

Do Live Photos still work after shrinking?

Yes — the motion and sound are preserved in the new copy.

Why does Shrinkr need Photos access?

It needs access to see which photos are large and to save the smaller replacement back to your library. Shrinkr never uploads or transmits your photos anywhere.

I turned on "Exclude iCloud-only photos" — what does that do?

It skips photos that are only stored in iCloud (not downloaded to your device), so Shrinkr never needs to use cellular data or your network to fetch them.
