1. Title: Optimal Deployment of Wavelength Converters in WDM Optical Networks, October 2016 – April 2017
Objective: To find out the optimum number of wavelength converters required in the network and their optimal positions along with optimum resource allocation techniques
· Simulated WDM optical network and obtained results to analyze the effect of wavelength converters on WDM optical network in terms of blocking performance
· Proposed optimum and cost effective solution for any optical network
· Proposed optimum and advanced routing and wavelength assignment techniques
· Proposed call queuing as an effective solution over call blocking
· Learnt about optical networking, WDM optical networks, blocking model, converter deployment, and optical communication

NS3 - to understand data (packet) transfer between nodes in any optical network topology
