Welcome! I am currently a Research Director (Assistant Professor) at the Center for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) set up by the Reserve Bank of India in Mumbai, India.
Previously, I was a Senior Research Analyst at the Digital Inclusion and Governance Lab (DIGLab) at William and Mary's Global Research Institute, working on impact evaluations related to women's digital inclusion and interoperable payment systems in Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Nepal.
I have also worked as an Economist at Amazon, working on topics related to urban spaces, labor allocation and behavioral economics. My research interests are in the fields of Development Economics, Urban Economics, Political Economy and Behavioral Economics.
I graduated with a doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Houston in May 2020. My job market paper examines the effect of exposure to caste diverse neighbors on attitudes towards caste discrimination in a public housing site in India. Previously, I have examined the causal impact of innovation in agriculture on the incidence and intensity of religious conflict in India. I have assisted in the design of an experiment to measure inter ethnic trust through a youth development program in Kenya.
I was a visiting PhD Fellow at United Nations World Development Research Institute (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki, Finland.
