We are a small group of high school seniors (at the time of UST's conception -- 11/26/19) in Maryland that were joking around in math class with converting our units into preposterous things...before deciding to convert everything into Shrek.
We began converting our minutes into "Shreks" based on the length of the first Shrek movie, and quickly came up with the "Universal Shrek Constant" (or USC) to more accurately define things in terms of Shreks by taking into account the lengths of all (at the time, 4) Shrek movies that have been released, averaging them to find the USC.
Currently, there are about 15 Shreks to a day.
"Universal Shrek Time" is the time of day as calculated in Shreks over its 24 hour period. One Shrek, as of November 26, 2019, is about 95.25 minutes according to the Universal Shrek Constant (which is described in the "Who are we?" section to the left).
Midnight is, of course, 0 Shrek,
One full day (24 hours) is about 15.12 Shrek,
and so on. On this website we have several different clocks and counters (even a couple converters!) that measure various amounts of time in Universal Shrek Time.
We felt like it.
