Triggering factors that could cause sinus obstruction are:
1- Common cold.
2- Allergic rhinitis. It is the swelling of the lining of the nose which is caused by some allergens.
3- Nasal polyps. They are small benign growths in the lining of the nose.
Deviated Nasal Septum- a slight shift in the cartilage which divides the nostrils.
Types of sinusitis
Sinusitis can be classified as follows:
9-1- Acute sinusitis: The patients suffering from acute sinusitis experience symptoms similar to normal cold. Stuffy and runny nose along with pain in the facial nerves are the common ones. The symptoms might start suddenly and last about 7-10 days, but may last upto 4 weeks.
2- Subacute sinusitis: This kind of sinusitis is usually associated with the inflammation of the sinus. The symptoms are accompanied with pain. This lasts for about 4 to 12 weeks.
3- Chronic sinusitis: It is accompanied with pain and inflammation that lasts for more than 12 weeks.
4- Recurrent sinusitis: It occurs and recovers multiple times (3-4) in a year.

Following are the signs and symptoms of Chronic Sinusitis:
1- A feeling of fullness and congestion in the face.
2- Nasal blockage or obstruction which might lead to difficulty in breathing.
3- Nasal discharge- yellow or greenish.
4- Moderate to high fever.
5- Runny nose or Post Nasal Drip.
6- Fatigue and tiredness.
7- Cough or sore throat.
8- Bad breath.
9- Headache or eye symptoms.
