I am Shozo Kamiya, a Japanese student of Spinoza
I am a researcher in the field of History of Philosophy. I have been working on Spinoza studies throughout my philosophical career.
I have completed my doctorate at Johns Hopkins University, under the supervision of Professor Yitzhak Melamed.
Before Hopkins, I completed BA (hons.) at Durham University, UK, and Master of Research at Birkbeck, University of London, UK (Professor Susan James supervised my research thesis).
My area of specialization is Early Modern Philosophy, focusing on Spinoza in particular.
I have also worked on the History of Science in the 17th century, surrounding Descartes and Spinoza. History of Japanese thought (日本思想史) has long been a theme for me to ponder over. Additionally, I am very interested in learning more about Traditional Indian Philosophy (Vedanta Philosophy and the Upanishads), Chinese Philosophy (Taoism and 格義仏教), and Ancient Greek Philosophy (Eleatics and Megarian Modal Philosophy).
