Unleash your creative potential and embark on a transformative writing adventure with "Show Up and Write."  Much like co-working spaces or the practice of "body doubling," this dynamic co-writing group is designed to provide a supportive environment for writing projects, invigorate your writing process, cultivate lasting habits, and foster meaningful connections with fellow creatives.

Here's what makes it unique:

✍️Tailored for Writers: Unlike general co-working spaces, a co-writing space is specifically tailored to meet the needs of writers. It's a place where individuals working on various writing projects, whether for business, art, personal pleasure, healing, or any other purpose, can come together to find inspiration, motivation, and a sense of community.

👭Host-Guided Experience: In a co-writing space, the hosts take on the role of 'holding the writing container.' This means they curate and maintain an environment that's conducive to focused writing. They ensure that distractions are minimized, and the group's collective energy is harnessed to keep you motivated and on track.

✨Deep Work: The primary aim of a co-writing space is to enable you to dive deep into your work. It's a place where you can dedicate quality time to your writing projects, harnessing the synergy of the group without the pressure of sharing or critiquing your work. It's all about personal growth and productivity.

📝 Structured Writing Sessions: Immerse yourself in focused, distraction-free writing sessions every week. Guided by our expert facilitators, these sessions provide the ideal environment to dive deep into your projects and emerge with substantial progress. We will alternate between deep work “sprints” and energizing breaks to help keep your energy and focus at its peak.

📅 Accountability and Progress Tracking: Say goodbye to procrastination. Our group offers a supportive network that will hold you accountable for your writing goals. Regular check-ins and progress tracking ensure that you stay on course throughout the six weeks.

🚀 Cultivate Consistency: Whether you're an established author or just beginning your writing journey, maintaining a consistent writing habit is key. “Show Up and Write" provides the structure and motivation you need to make writing an integral part of your routine.

🤝 Community and Connection: Connect with a diverse and passionate community of fellow writers who share your enthusiasm for the written word. Forge new friendships, exchange ideas, and gain insights that extend beyond the writing process, enriching both your personal and professional spheres.

🌱 Process Over Outcomes: "Show Up and Write" is all about nurturing your writing process, emphasizing growth and consistency over immediate outcomes. There's no content review of your writing, freeing you to explore your creativity without judgment.

Show Up & Write! FAQs

What is a co-writing group?

Similar to co-working or body doubling, everyone will bring a writing project of their choice and use the time together each week to focus on their work through short writing sprints. This could be journaling, writing an article or poem, outlining a book or screenplay, writing copy for your website, crafting a business plan - whatever is calling to you.

How does it work?

We’ll meet for weekly focused work sessions via Zoom. We will open each session with a check in including a reading to set the container and serve as a prompt for those who need one. Each person will set their goal for the session. There will be timed writing “sprints” and short energizing breaks in between. At the end, there will be a check out where you can share your progress with the group. Because the focus is on the writing process, not writing outcomes, there will be no content review of your writing.

What is an integration week?

We don't meet together to write during an integration week. Instead, we take time individually to reflect on our progress, share insights, and provide feedback. The integration week offers a supportive space for members to connect, discuss challenges, celebrate achievements, and set intentions for the upcoming month. It's a valuable opportunity to deepen connections within the group, foster a sense of community, and ensure everyone is well-prepared and inspired for the next round of co-writing sessions.

How much writing will be expected/suggested between sessions?

That will be entirely up to you to set goals that are realistic for you. You might decide you only want to write during the hour and a half we’re together. Or you might decide you want to write more.

Will we have the opportunity to connect with group members between sessions?

There will be a private Facebook group outside of the weekly meetings for connection and extra accountability between sessions for those who want it.  You can access the group here: www.facebook.com/groups/showupandwritewritingcircle/.

What if I miss a session or have to leave early?

Since this isn't a formal class, you won't miss any content. The emphasis is on fostering accountability for your personal writing practice or project while receiving support from fellow participants on similar journeys. Additionally, a group chat outside the weekly meetings will promote connection and added accountability between sessions. So, even if you have to leave early or can't attend a few meetings, the group dynamic still provides substantial support and an opportunity to build professional and personal relationships.
