Hi! I’m a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Liverpool. I am an applied microeconomist interested in labour, family, and development, with a focus on how gender shapes these domains. My research examines questions such as how grandparenthood affects women’s labour market outcomes as they age, and how social protection and health programmes can shift gender norms and women’s agency. I will be on the Economics job market in 2025–26.
Before academia, I spent about 10 years working in the development sector in India with UNICEF, UN Women, the Government of Maharashtra, and public policy think tanks. My work centred on gender-responsive planning and budgeting, addressing issues such as violence against women and children, health, and education. I have also been a journalist with the Hindustan Times, one of India's leading dailies. I hold a Masters from the London School of Economics, for which I was awarded the Chevening Scholarship (2016–17) by the UK FCDO and LSE. I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi.
