Welcome to Short Stories

This is a Portfolio Project for my Mythology and Folklore course (MLLL-3043-996) at the University of Oklahoma, Fall 2017. My name is Casey, and I'll be adapting short stories from many different cultures and subjects.

When Home Is No Longer Home: This story is set in the future and the protagonist is a man who has been sent into space for his work. He returns to Earth to find that it's not quite the same as he remembers. Some concepts from the original story, The Sleep of One Hundred Years, have been incorporated into this one.

Hide and Seek: In this story, Mable is a sweet old lady who lives alone in the woods. One day, a strange man knocks on her door begging for shelter. She lets him in, but senses something is off about him. Mable has to quickly decide whether or not she should trust him. Pieces of the plot were inspired by The Nobleman Who Concealed a Snake in His Sleeve.

Goldenrod: This one details the life of a girl whose stepmother torments her. She can do no right until a special man comes into her life. He wants to help her, but her stepmother is determined to make her life miserable no matter the cost. The main ideas for this story came from The True Bride.

Night of the Little Men: This story plays off of The King of the Ants where a scholar moves into a haunted home. He discovers some very strange pests living in the home and tries to exterminate them. My story starts the next night, when the pests come back. They're angry and they want revenge.
